Keerthy Suresh has been selecting interesting scripts that give her acting skills wings to explore on OTT platforms, if not theatrically. Now, she joined Suhas for an interesting OTT movie, Uppu Kappurambu. Let's discuss about the film in detail.
Plot:
Chinna (Suhas) is the only graveyard keeper in the small village, Chitti Jayapuram. The village has hundreds of years of history but a weird practice of everyone being buried to the North of it. Suddenly, head of the village (Sudhakar) dies and as per the norms, his daughter Apoorva (Keerthy Suresh) forcibly becomes the Head.
She faces the issue of burial ground being full as her biggest issue. Bheemayya (Babu Mohan) and Madhu Babu (Shatru), who belong to wealthy families, eye the Head position and try to create obstacles for Apoorva. Chinna wants to secure a special place for his cancer striken Mother (Thalluri Rajeshwari). What will he do? How Apoorva raise to the occasion? Watch the movie to know more.
Analysis:
Keerthy Suresh looked cute and she did a good job with her comic timing too. Her character needed to be very innocent yet shrewd and she hit the balance well. Suhas is good as Chinna and his performance in many scenes elevate the scene. Babu Mohan, Shatru are not as effective in comparison but they did well.
Writing wise the movie struggles to keep with the innovative ideas in the second hour but it did well in the first hour. The premise and Keerthy Suresh character are written well but Suhas character needed even better writing and imagination.
Execution wise movie banks heavily on performances and tries hard to give them enough material but story keeps revolving around the same. Few comic sequences worked well but the narrative feels like it is stuck in a loop for a long time. Had these issues been addressed, the movie would have been much better.
Overall, it remains a film that brings a weird problem in front of us which feels immediate and urgent as there is no relative expansion of free grounds according to the number of people. The movie could have been better but ends up being half-baked narrative.
Bottomline:
Movie entertains to an extent but could have been better.
Rating: 2.5/5
